As many people know, building a home can be a stressful event.  But from the moment we met Mark and Rick, we felt at ease.  From choosing a lot, to the final walk through, they handled the entire process with complete professionalism.  They carefully selected quality subcontractors who each provided excellent workmanship. 

In addition, Mark and Rick’s attention to the smallest details was second to none.  They communicated with us often and would make suggestions that would improve the look and feel of the home…the little things that add that special touch and make it YOUR home, not “just another house”.

We entered the process of building our dream home with great hopes and expectations.  Believe me - our anxiety level was as high as our expectations.  After all, this was the biggest purchase we had ever made and we knew our decisions would affect our lives for years to come.

We were looking for a homebuilder who understood the anxieties, hopes and expectations of someone building a dream home and we needed a builder who was not simply a hammer and nail guy, but someone who could instill creativity into the design and construction of our home.

We met Mark and Rick of Beau Desert Custom homes during the 2005 Parade of Homes in Albuquerque.  We found Mark and Rick to be the total package.  They were able to alleviate our anxiety and put us at ease about the whole process.  Right away, we knew these two were sincere, honest and dedicated to building the best home possible.  It became apparent to us relatively early on that building homes was not just a job to them - it was their passion and it quickly became evident in their attention to detail and their eagerness to fulfill our desires as the homeowner.  Nothing we presented or requested seemed to be too much trouble for them.  They did an excellent job of planning construction schedules and budgets, and then exceed the established goals in almost every instance.   From the first architectural draft to the move-in walk through, Mark and Rick were always available and quick to follow up on concerns and questions that arose.  They took the time to know our family - our likes and dislikes - and the overall style we preferred and they exhibited the exceptional ability to bring all of this together.  Mark and Rick put a lot of extra time and effort into making our house a home and we truly appreciate it.

Dear Mark,

I am not a letter writer but the work you did on my parents’ home deserves something more than a verbal thank you. At one time, I owned a wrought iron business and worked with a great many of contractors, large and small, in the Albuquerque area. The poor quality of the work, the lack of integrity of the contractors, and the lack of a decent work ethic caused me to dread building a house for my parents. After months of interviews and reference checks, I chose a contractor. … He quit because he couldn’t handle the stress!!! I was devastated, my dad was ill and timing was crucial. Well, his quitting was the best thing that could have happened to me! I found YOU!!

Mark, it is hard for me to put into words what you did for me and my family. You stepped into a project after it had already been designed and made a bad situation absolutely fabulous. You were honest, thorough, conscientious, responsive and, above all, considerate of an 86 year old couple. (You even managed to put up with my “A” personality). You had a great many projects started at the time you took on mine but you saw to it that we could get the house completed on time. You and Rick put the completion of my folks’ house before Rick’s [house]. I know there aren’t many contractors who would do that!

Since the house is next door to [mine], Ron and I would constantly look in to see what was done. If we saw a problem, you had already dealt with it. You were always on “top of” every situation. I never once had to worry because I knew you were there to take care of me. When the house was finished and Ron & I went for a little vacation, you gave my folks your home number so that they could call you if they needed something in our absence. Saying you go above and beyond the call of duty is putting it mildly!

I also want to thank Rick for all his hard work on the project. You make one heck of a team who takes great pride in doing a job well! If I can ever do anything for you, please let me know. I feel so lucky that my folks have a wonderful house and we all have wonderful new friends.
